Hillary Yasmer Shemin > Post 209 7/16/08 Meet Dylan!

Another walk, another doggie portrait. I am writing to you from the Tampa Bay, Fl airport. We got here at 9am this morning, a wee bit too early to pick up our rental car without paying another day rental on Sunday. Ok with me, finally connected to the Internet to upload my potd. This pup with his cousin "Harley" have a little gallery, too, now. I am collecting galleries of dogs when I walk it seems. Maddie had been chatting with Harley, Dylan and all their parents and Maddie's mom was raving about her portrait..soooo I had to take more pics to keep everyone happy. I will try and keep in touch, just depends on whether we get Internet along the way. Stay cool! Hugs, Me
Hillary Yasmer Shemin > Post 232 8/22/08 A beautiful day sitting in the main park area of Recoleta...the neighborhood of Buenos Aires where we always stay. This is a very handsome senior couple typical of the people who live in this area. The people in the background are visitors to Recoleta Cemetery famous for the resting place of Eva Peron and many other notables of Argentina over the last 200 years or so. Lovely area. I will have many other shots around this park, the sidewalk cafes and local street scenes in my gallery. Today we walked in the neighborhood called "ONCE" ( prounounced like the number 11 in Spanish, of course) ONCE is a textile and wholesale merchant area and it was busy and colorful...

Thanks for all your great comments on yesterday's post. I really loved that pic and was so excited that you all liked it too!

Hillary Yasmer Shemin > Post 221 7/31/08 Happy Wednesday!
These were taken last night on our walk at the park.

I am flying to Chicago for a Dental Hygienist conference until Sunday. I don't think I will take my laptop, so I will be MIA from the Dailies for the rest of the week! I will just have to catch up when I can...
Hillary Yasmer Shemin > Post 195 6/28/08 He begged me to take his picture!!!

Actually, this guy did sort of stand and pose for me to take a few shots. I pass this little farm all the time and think that I should park somewhere and walk over to take pictures, but never have, until yesterday. I even asked permission from the owners! This guy was the only one of the 3 horses there who paid attention to me and seemed to want me to take his picture...so sweet!
Hillary Yasmer Shemin > Post 213 7/20/08 Ready for liftoff and back to Philly in a few hours!

This has been a whirlwind trip...time goes way too fast when on vacation, doesn't it? I am not a morning person by nature but made a point to get up today for some shots at sunrise. We had a nice walk on the beach and saw some pelicans playing in the water and drying off their wings. They are fascinating pre-historic like birds...This was a fun trip...I will look forward to catching up as best I can when I am home. I know I have missed some great photos from all of you these last few days!
Hillary Yasmer Shemin > Post 144 - 4/24/08 - A rose, is a rose, is a rose.

Steve and I took a day to drive to Longwood Gardens in Chester County, PA yesterday. ( Matt Pilsner took some great shots out there months ago, if you remember http://www.mattpilsner.com/gallery/4252229_tk8cw#248900700_BUxvJ ) Anyway, it was a gorgeous day and I had the day off so we went!!! I am posting this with yesterday's date as I was too tired to post last night. I will have another later today to share and will post a link to some other photos from the day when I set up the gallery. This shot was straight out of the camera with the exception of fixing a small blurred dirt spot on one of the petals in PS Elements. That in itself was an accomplishment for me as I do not do much of that sort of post processing. This was taken later in the afternoon towards the very end of our hours there. Other shots were taken midday and very difficult with the strong midday sunlight as well you can imagine. I am proud of this shot!!! I had the new 90mm macro 2.8 on my 40D and took the new Canon G9 to play with and back up shots that I might more of a wide angle on. It was a fun day and good way to play with the new macro lens. Thanks for checking in!
Hillary Yasmer Shemin > Using that tripod I invested in....

After the photo shoot the other day with my family I had my tripod still sitting out and I thought I would give myself a little self portrait photo session. Nice light coming in from the bedroom window and I was set to go. What I am curious to know...Does the camera focus when you press the release and it is set on self timer or focus as it shoots? The 40D does not have a remote so I had to get up and press it for each shot I took. I tried to sit close to the wall where I thought it would be focusing and in some of the shots I used a smaller aperature for deeper depth of field. but I just wasn't sure. Thoughts or comments???
Hillary Yasmer Shemin > Post 207 - 7/12/08 Another try at a 3D-ish pic!

A day at Bradley Beach, New Jersey. I used the Tamron 90mm 2.8 again. I also made a point to use a wide open aperature for a quick shutter to help get the pop I wanted. This is fun to have a particular technique to work on, rather than just shooting for an interesting shot...Though this was both interesting, I thought, and made for a stand-out subject. I hope you think so, too.

Sorry I have not been online much to catch up on all your photos and make comments. You have all been so kind in taking time for my pinwheels flowers and the others lately...I wish I could have responded and thanked each one of you personally, but just can't hang at the computer that much right now. I had a lot more work days this week and with that, needed some time with Steve, today, too! We are leaving Wed for a few days in Florida. I will try and look at some pics later tonight and comment when I can...just a very busy time.
Hillary Yasmer Shemin > Post 240 9/1/08 Wow..already September 1st! Happy Labor Day everyone!

This shot was taken on a little train from San Isidro, Argentina back to Buenos Aires. Toward the end of the trip this man came into our car with this harp and played a few songs...It was really lovely. You can see by the smiles that his music was enjoyed. After the songs were finished a woman he was with carried the harp while he walked ahead with a cap in hand for some 'donations'!
